It seems that the broad political aim of the Progressive Movement was to renew the vigor of administrative institutions by fighting against corrupt political machines and eliminating the phenomena of embezzlement and corruption and its economic goal was to subject big business to public control to protect the interests of the middle class, the small businessmen, and the consumers. But the crux of the matter was to protect the interests of minority. The biggest problem of the movement was that the plight of the blacks was largely ignored.
